About This Blog...

Steve began working with the Pitman church in August, 2007. He has brought a wealth of ministry experience to us: children's, youth, and adult ministries, Children's Home work, and teaching experience from the pre-school to university levels.

Steve and his twelve (yes, twelve!) siblings were raised by parents who worked in Christian Children's Homes for over 35 years. Steve received his B.A. and M.A. in Education from Harding (1974, 1975). Later, Steve completed a master's equivalent and his PhD in Human Performance at Indiana University (IU). Steve has thirteen years of teaching experience at the college level for IU and York College, in York, NE. Steve's childhood and ministry experiences impressed on him that many families are in need of "wounded healing." So, in 1992, Steve obtained a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, TX.

Steve and Patti Klein Sikes have been married for 39 years (December 30) and have four children and 3 grandchildren.

“WITH HONORS!”
May 15, 2012

“Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor (Romans 13:7).”

So many people to congratulate!   So many graduates and recipients of honor!

But for this particular article I want to lift up and celebrate Derrick Busch, who graduated yesterday with honors in completing his second Master’s degree!  Way to go, D.B.!

Derrick, husband to Brenda Busch, father of Derrick II and Brianna, and long-time Special Education teacher (MEd), received another Master’s degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling (MPC) from Neumann University yesterday.  His MPC degree is a clinical counseling degree with an added “spiritual” emphasis.

Derrick we are so proud of you!

Those of you who have worked full time, gone to school full time and tried to raise a family full time, have some idea the “joys” and challenges Derrick has faced over the past several years.  Plus, Derrick and Brenda’s marriage is less than a year old!

So, we say to you, Derrick, a heart-felt congratulations for not just hanging in there – but for finishing strong!  Our prayers are for God’s plan to continually unfold in your life, for you are indeed, God’s man!

For any reading this article who do not know Derrick Busch, let me share with you several other items of special interest:  Derrick is one of our finest Bible class teachers – to young and old alike; he possesses a compassionate and passionate spirit for visiting and seeing to the needs of many of our shut-ins; he is wise beyond his years and most importantly, Spirit-filled!  Derrick is a servant of servants and WE ARE HONORED TO CALL HIM BROTHER!

“… if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.  Now you are Christ's body, and individually members of it (1Corinthians 12:26-27).”

Amen!

God is good!  Mr. Steve
